Collection: Tabasco Agate Micro-Geodes — Zacatecas, Mexico

Among the World’s Smallest Natural Geodes

Volcanic Energy in the Palm of Your Hand

Among the world’s smallest natural geodes, Tabasco agates reveal intricate chalcedony banding and sparkling quartz centers within tiny volcanic nodules.

Tabasco agates, sometimes known in the mineral trade as Illianites, are miniature geodes sourced from the volcanic formations of Zacatecas, Mexico. These naturally occurring nodules form when silica-rich groundwater deposits layers of chalcedony inside small gas cavities within ancient lava flows.

When cut and paired, each nodule reveals its internal structure — delicate agate banding surrounding a small druzy quartz crystal center. Despite their tiny size, these micro-geodes display remarkable geological detail and symmetry, making them highly appealing to mineral collectors and enthusiasts of miniature specimens.

Each Tabasco agate pair in this collection is individually photographed and selected for its unique character, whether through banding patterns, druzy formation, or color variation ranging from deep iron reds and greens to pale translucent chalcedony.

These specimens represent natural chalcedony and quartz mineral formations, making them both a fascinating geological cross-section and a beautiful addition to a curated crystal or mineral collection.

Each pair includes a small acrylic display stand, making them ideal for curio cabinets, desk displays, or collector arrangements.
