Polyhedral Agate Pairs
This month’s Curio Cabinet release features Polyhedral Agate Pairs from Brazil — a rare and unexpected formation defined by its natural symmetry and alignment.
Traditionally, agate forms in rounded nodules with concentric banding. Polyhedral agates are different. They developed within angular fractures, forming geometric shapes over millions of years in a very limited region. These specimens reflect nature’s ability to create structure beyond what is typically expected.
Many of these deposits were considered exhausted by the late 1970s, making well-formed examples increasingly rare and highly sought after by collectors.
Each pair is one-of-a-kind, selected for its formation, presence, and collector significance.
