Megalodon Shark Tooth Fossil

Otodus megalodon was a giant macropredatory shark that lived approximately 23 to 3.6 million years ago. Its broad, triangular teeth were built for cutting, with finely serrated edges and a reinforced crown covered in hard enameloid. Because shark skeletons are primarily cartilage, fossil teeth provide much of the evidence used to study the species.
